I teamed up with Shane Cristelli (@cristellifit) to build a 5 week strength and conditioning challenge designed specifically for running a 5K. The challenge ended just in time for 4th of July races and festivities! The plan was designed for challengers to look great, feel strong, and run faster! We provided the plan and 30 athletes provided the determination!
Out of those 30 participants we saw 5K time improvements from 13 seconds up to 3 minutes PER MILE!! This speaks volumes for what strength training can do for your endurance performance. Another positive aspect of adding strength training and proper nutrition to your endurance plan is the physical transformation. We chose 2 athletes, one male and one female, whose 5K times improved the most to receive a new pair of running shoes as they continue on their running journey:
